quick trip
My husband and I are driving from Phoenix to Fargo in a 2-3 day "quick trip". Is it possible to leave Phoenix early Saturday morning (6-7) and see the Grand Canyon and the 4 corners before that park closes at 8 pm? We don't plan on any hiking at the Grand Canyon, but just want to see it to take a few pictures. Plus we are in a truck that can't go over 55 mph. Any road info/directions would be appreciated also. Thanks!

May I suggest you consult Mapquest.com and type in Phoenix as your point of origination and Fargo as your destination. You will find you have a trip of 1,822 miles ahead of you, one-way. That's 26 hours of non-stop driving. The Grand Canyon, as you will discover, is miles out of your way. About the only way I can see you making the trip in the time you say is to stick to the interstates and drive, drive, drive. Good luck!

According to Mapquest, Phoenix to Fargo is 1649 miles if you ask for the route that is the shortest distance, rather than the shortest time. Since the truck can't go over 55, you'd want to go for the shortest distance route. Coincidentally, that route avoids some of the interstates and takes you pretty much right through the 4 corners.
As best as I can tell, it's about 400 or so miles from Phoenix to 4 corners, so at a max of 55 mph that's over 7 hours of driving, not counting stoppage time. Add in a couple extra hours for the detour to the Grand Canyon and a bit of time to stop for food and gas, and it's probably reasonable to assume it'll take you at least 10 hours to get to 4 corners. So if you left at 6 or 7am, that'd put you there around 4 or 5 in the afternoon.
For directions, go to mapquest.com , put in Phoenix as your starting point and Fargo as you ending point. When it gives you directions, look on the right side of the screen for the "Shortest distance" option and select that, rather than the default "Shortest time".
