I would suggest Kennebunkport. Great downtown area and drive along the ocean.

York! Not for the shops but for the taffy pulling machine at the Goldenrod. Traditional to watch it and then buy some saltwater taffy. Walk up to the Nubble lighthouse. Nice grassy area and small playground ... at least there was the last time we went. Used to be an annual family visit.

I like Kennebunkport. It's a walkable town and so many nice shops and restaurants. Recommend Federal Jack's for a meal. Sit outside on the patio and you'll have a view overlooking the shops and boats near the bridge. Good local brew pub with good food and beer. Across the street from the drive entrance is a great shop " The Best of Everything " which has fabulous prices on jewelry. Well worth a visit.
