I suggest the best airline would be the cheapest. You are flying within the US--I don't think kids need ID. If you have a passport for them bring it.

As in many things on the internet, it may be worth exactly what you paid for it. I would ask an airline person.

I personally would pick Alaska Airlines as their prices are competitive and the service typically very good. They have a couple of nonstop departures from Seattle to Honolulu daily.

You might want to get an Alaska Airlines Visa card - their promotion is that you get a free ticket, and then every year you get a companion ticket for $99. Unlike other airlines, these are very "user-friendly" - we've flown from San Francisco to Hawaii more than once and to Palm Springs using the cheap companion ticket. We were on Alaska Airlines just yesterday, and the plane was VERY nice.

Why do you say other airlines aren't user friendly. We have them with USAir and have had no problem. I have heard really nice things about Alaska air.

It's that Alaska makes it super easy to use their companion tickets, and some other airlines make it difficult. On Alaska you can can use the companion ticket for any coach fare class, so if there's a seat available you can have it, whereas on United for instance, it's limited to certain fare classes and we've yet to be successful with it.

When you purchase your tickets you should be able to select your seats. Look at the seating chart. If you cannot be seated four across, try to sit at least 2 and 2, across the aisle from one another. If each child can wear a small backpack, put in a few toys/games/books/etc. The flight is nearly 6 hours and you will have waiting time at the airport in Seattle as well. Also bring along some snacks. You can buy drinks after you pass through security, but cannot take juice boxes with you. Most airlines do not serve meals anymore or just sell small snacks.

My aunt had full custody and she got to the airport once and they said "we won't let you on the plane without a notarized letter from his dad." His dad was amenable, and they paid a taxi to deliver it to the airport but it was a very, very stressful start to the trip. I would get one if you can.

flown many times to Hawaii and love Hawaiian Airlines the best AND they still serve a free meal and give out pillows and blankets FREE. The service is wonderful. There is plenty of room on the plane and prices are competitive. When I start planning I check every day on their air fares and I can usually find a bargain. I agree about bringing things to amuse the kids. Ipod, Ipad, computer, books, games. Aloha

I always fly Hawaiian Air between Seattle and Oahu. LOVE that airline.

American Airlines is extremely hard to use(at least for the lower amount of miles). When I use my points, it is gone. I have no problem ever using SW(to bad they don't go to Hawaii).

Why I love Hawaiian Air so much... it's like being in Hawaii the minute you step on the plane, the cabin crew, the beverage cart, the great programming on the TV/video/audio stations with shows and music set in Hawaii.

If it was less expensive the other carriers, I might consider it, but HA has always been competitively priced with an excellent non-stop schedule out of Seattle (you leave aruond 10am, get to Oahu aruond 2pm local time - 6 hr flight, 2 hr time change)
