Question for Songdoc and other Kauai enthusiasts
We are going to Kauai again (Yeah!) in April with family. I want to do a vow renewal; it is 47 years, after all. I am corresponding with a company called Kauai Dream Weddings. The cost is minimal and includes the required permits.
We have a choice of locations, which does not have to be decided upon until we are on the island.
Some of the suggested locations are: Tunnels Beach at sunset, Hanalei Beach and Hanalei Pier, Ke
'e Beach, again sunset, Anini Beach and Nukolii Beach. Hanalei Bay Resort is available for $500 which knocks it out of contention.
There are also various gardens offered, but I really want beach. What would be your suggestions.
I have not put a payment in. Are there other companies to consider?

Congratulations! How wonderful.
FYI, we did the deed at Hanalei Bay at sunset. You are NOT permitted to do it on the pier. We walked a few minutes away from the pier so we could have some privacy. Also ... you are not permitted to erect any structure or have people seated. But they make exceptions for people who need to sit.
We brought chairs and a spread of appetizers for the guests to gather early. I also brought a CD player with my favorite Hawaiian music. But when the ceremony began we walked away from the chairs.
One of my favorite touches was that my niece drew lines in the sand -- so we could "walk down the aisle."
Dale Rosenfeld (http://joyfulceremoniesandweddings.com) did a PERFECT job for us. We could not have been happier. She was a joy to work with and the ceremony was so beautiful it exceeded all expectations. She included some very beautiful ancient Hawaiian traditions and rituals (with our approval).
Hanalei Bay has a very special place in my heart and it had been my fantasy to be married there long before I ever dreamed it would be possible. But I've seen weddings at several beaches -- and they all looked beautiful -- except for the poor couple who could poured on at Tunnels. .
Let us know what you decide!

Tunnels is a cool beach for reef snorkeling but not IMHO for wedding vow renewals. Plus it is hard to find as it in an isolated area and parking would be difficult.
I think songdoc's suggestion sounds beautiful.

I don't know..... We had a 40th anniversary vow renewal ceremony last year on the beach a couple hundred yards east of Tunnels, and it will remain one of our best Hawaii memories. Beautiful sunset, spectacularly natural coastline, Na Pali in the background, and only the six in our party on the beach. But that was in September, and I don't know if I'd take a chance on April weather.
