Thanks for the summation and lovely photos; your idea of a late day visit inspires me to include it on the next trip into the park (I love the basalt types on Chain of Craters).

Very cool - you both need to visit Kbal Spean near Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Cool!!!

Did you go to the Kona side on this trip? I'll be going next month to work at an annual conference (at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel). I'll have two days off and will likely stay in the Kona area this time and was curious to see if you'll be posting anything beyond Hilo.

I'm enjoying your terrific pix and reports.

@sylvia3 - Thank you so much.

@sf7307 - Cambodia is one of the top countries we want to visit. Hopefully soon. We will add your suggestion to our list, the place looks lovely. Thank you.

@Songdoc - Thank you for your kind words.
We have a post coming up soon on Pu`uhonua O Hōnaunau historical park and Hapuna beach. The park is one of our favorite places. Unfortunately we couldn't see much on Kona side on this trip.
But we had planned to go to Kaloko-Honokōhau historical park, Magic sands beach and Makalawena/Pu'u Ali'i, all in the Kona area, just didn't have enough time.
Have a great trip
