Pumpkin Ridge golf conditions?
Beachbum, mms, Andrew, et al, based on your recommendations, we are going to try Pumpkin Ridge later this month when we visit your fair city.
I assume the course is in good condition? Each year when the three of us get together we usually play in the Southeast, especially Hilton Head, and for some reason the courses have always been aerated a week before we arrive.
My putting is far from precise, but it is better without aeration than with...! What's the schedule out there? Has the seasonal greens maintenance been done?
Greens fees are a bit steeper than I expected. Bandon is further from Portland than we wanted to drive on a day outing, and that brought a lot of courses into consideration nearer the city -- all less expensive. I assume Pumpkin Ridge is worth it ($150 including cart).
I'll run the dining list past you guys before we leave...
Thanks!

Didn't see this post until now, Jim, since I was playing yesterday (in a steady drizzle/shower/downpour, and unfortunately not at Pumpkin). Pumpkin Ridge should have long ago plugged and sanded greens for the season. Anytime I've never played there at this time of year, the course has been in great shape.
Is it worth it? Basing my answer on strokes/dollar, I'd have to say yes! But if the high greens fee puts a lump in your throat, check out The Reserve, where they play one of the Seniors' slam events.

Thanks, we have decided to stay with Pumpkin, so long as it is not ripped up. Drizzle sounds good, Beachbum. I played this morning -- early -- and it was over 90 when I left the course at about 11:30.
Go Travel, it was the Southeast aeration schedule that kept catching us at HHI.
Thanks!

Jim--I am not a golfer anymore, so can't help personally. However, my brother is a golf fanatic and loves PR. Of course he also plays at Bandon several times each week. I would trust Beachbums recommendations. Our weather is improving this week, so hopefully you will hit it when it is nice.
