Pt Reyes

Thinking of visiting Pt Reyes next weekend with hopes of seeing the elephant seals.
Any suggestion for places too stay- not looking for high end- maybe a cozy cabin? Have not been there before.

Only lodging available in the park is the HI Hostel.

Not fancy but you can take your own food and cook in the kitchen.

How about a short drive from the park- does not have to be inside the park

Inverness is a charming area nearby. There are several vrbo rentals:

You'd have to find out about minimum number of nights to stay.

What is your budget?

You might check out this place http://www.cottagespointreyes.com

There are several places in Bodega Bay but that is about 35 very slow miles up the coast.

Lots of B&Bs in and around Pt Reyes, but no real affordable lodging besides camping. Even the less-expensive options (Tomales Bay Resort, Motel Inverness, Bear Valley Inn; I've heard positive reports on all 3) are probably going to be at least $150.

The hostel is lovely. Private rooms weekends 2-night minimum, could be >$100/night (w/ taxes).

From how far are you traveling? What do you consider a "short drive"? A motel in Petaluma? Or do you want to be overnight in the area to fully enjoy it?
