I know that for New Orleans, there's Go Fourth on the River and the Essence Fest, which brings top name acts to the Superdome and Convention Center. Also, summer deals make New Orleans quite afforable for the cost minded.
Any comments from folks in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Chicago, NYC, Seattle, San Diego, Washington, or Boston?
I know this is by neighborhood, but are you surprised by the popular neighborhoods?
Some of those venues will be plenty hot. I am headed to Nola in August myself & it will be plenty hot then as well. But it is essentially free (airfare & hotel anyway) so the price IS right.
Thanks for sharing. It's great

I'm surprised that San Diego is 6th..
Hey, did you go to SD yet?
ksucat,
It appears that I will be going to the Bay Area instead of San Diego with my girlfriend and my little boy. Our relationship is getting more serious and I want to meet her family and they want to meet me and my boy.
We plan to rent a cabin in the Sequoia National Forest the week of Sep. 7th (after Labor Day) and then hit the beach (maybe Santa Cruz) for a while. September usually should not have fog on the coast, right?
We'll also visit the Bay Area. I'm very excited to be in the Bay Area during September as I heard that's the best time to be there.
ksucat,
Did you think San Diego would be higher on the list? I was thinking it might, given the gorgeous weather there.

Seattle doesn't surprise me - it's a perfect summertime city destination. PL has been giving great hotel rates for the weekend, too.
