Priceline wins updates
I thought we could have our own version of registering what we won on Priceline, time of year/date and price.
I am staying at Club Quarters in San Francisco, This is June 10-12, 2010. I got it for 80/ngt. I think I bid as low as 3.5 stars. At first I was disappointed because I was hoping for the Meridien; this is in the Embarcadero area. It has been really great though, I really like this place. It is much nicer than the pictures on its website. In fact, if I got the Meridien for the same price, I would probably stay here at CQ. It has free wireless internet, free coffee and tea all day in the lobby, and free purified bottled water.
Please post your wins and time of year so we can use it as a reference. May I suggest this format:
City: san francisco
area: embarcadero
hotel: Club quarters
stars: 3.5
price: 80/ngt
date: June 10-12, 2010

Why would you try and reinvent the wheel? Betterbidding.com has a far bigger base for input with both bids and wins, a win calendar which shows dates of wins and where etc etc.and they have Hotwire wins too with great ways to id mystery hotels.

Hi, NC.
-San Francisco
-Union Square East
-Grand Hyatt
-4 Stars
-$83 night
-June 15-19
I used biddingfortravel.com, but I don't think it is as useful now as it used to be. I started out by bidding $80 per night, after it was rejected I added the Union Square West and raised it to $83. It was accepted.
It looks like parking is $50 a day. Yech!

Here's another:
-Salt Lake City
-Downtown
-Little America
-4 stars
-$45/ngt
-May 21, 2010
I really like this property. Big rooms, free parking, nice lobby and good on-property restaurants. It is about five blocks away from Temple Square, but there is a Trax station next to the hotel that you can ride for free into the city. (Part of a free-fare zone. If you want to ride to University of Utah, you would need to purchase a ticket.) This is one of the better deals on Priceline, IMO.

debitNM- because I don't like the other wheel. I find those sites difficult to navigate but, yes, I do use them. I don't know how this will work but we talk about all kinds of other stuff anyway, so why not this? I tend to be one who likes more information rather than less.... this is not meant to replace those other sites, just another avenue.
great deals, everyone!
Dutch- I just got through two nights in san francisco with only $10 paid in parking. Took some work on my part which most people wouldn't be willing to do though.

I think the trouble with trying to do this here is logistics. You have some wins posted. But they are so limited - a particular weekend, lets say in a particular area of a city. I want to go, but it is a different month for my trip. Will what you won help me? Maybe yes, most likely not. You really need a large data base with people who post a lot of wins, for different cities, areas, dates etc to get info likely to help you win.
I have used betterbidding three times in the past week to help me ID hotels on hotwire and got great hotels at great prices. I just don't think a thread here will help others get on PL or HW.
If you want this to be more of a "hey I got a great deal" that's ok, but to really provide useful bidding info, meh, not so much.
Just MHO

I agree.. www.betterbidding.com is now THE website to check wins. Their calendar of wins is fabulous, the moderators are very very NICE, and without this website, one would tend to overbid. The infomation is set up so clearly .
f you do a quick search in the upper search box on betterbidding it will bring up ALL wins/ priceline and hotwire, for that city.

PS to kodi above----"what the area is called" in Boston can make all the difference in whether the hotel is in a good locale or not. Unfortunately, in Boston, location trumps stars...
I don't mean to make you worry, as your trip is coming up soon, but since you are there for 3 nights, would you like to find the name and get some feedback?

Read this with interest as I was hoping to find a bargain for an upcoming Seattle SUV rental 7/1 rtn 7/6.
Had an unbeleivable 312. SUV standard for 4 day rate from Alamo I booked on Carrentals.com but had to forfeit as I found Travel Agent DH booked the airline tickets wrong & need 5 day rental.
Bid on Priceline suggested 40% off from the going rate of about 650. lowest Hertz SUV rate w/AAA discount for 5 days and was declined.
Now rates are all over 650.00 for any SUV..any company except FOX
I looked at FOX (offsite) listed on the Alaska rental car link and they are 313. for 5 day Midsize SUV.
All the above happend w/in last 24 hours.
So any feedback???

I have used Fox before without any problems. I would avoid them in las vegas though because they are off offsite. Just a bit more of a hassle to get to and one should factor in extra time.

1JAR - I almost never find a good deal on PL cars in Seattle in the summer (luckily the fam will lend me one if necessary). Are you bidding on the airport location? Frequently you can get a better deal if you're willing to pick up downtown, and the taxes are a lot lower as well.

Yes, I agree with Debi, there's little point in creating a soon-to-be stale thread of Priceline wins when BetterBidding.com already exists and is much easier to navigate than a single thread of wins here. I still glance at BFT as well but since I have been banned, I of course post my results on BetterBidding. Still trying to understand why a site like BFT would ban someone from creating content that improves their site...
