Priceline For Rental Cars

Hi:

I'm thinking of using Priceline to bid on a rental car on Monday. I'm familiar with how it works for air tickets and hotel nights, but how does it work for rental cars? Specifically, I would not need to pick up the car until 8p. & would not be dropping it off until the same time the next day. Would this be OK, since I'd be "buying" the day (same as a hotel night)?

Thanks!

No difference than if you get your car directly from the car rental company. A "day" is 24 hours. If you pick up a 8pm, and you have until 8pm next day to drop it off.

I just used them for a rental and it was very easy. Never used them for hotels or air, so can't compare those.

But for cars, you just enter the price you're willing to pay, submit, then see if you got it. Pretty simple. It will be from one of the five major car companies.

After reading your post, I'm still not sure why you think your scenario would be a problem (8-8 rental day).

Many thanks to the both of you. The reason for my concern is that (as I understand it) for air travel, you cannot select a specific time or even a time range for a flight. If you win a bid but want to leave at 8a., and the ticket is for 8p., too bad -- you have to go at 8p.

Since I haven't used them for cars, I wanted to be completely sure prior to starting the process.

I have used them for hotels twice, and both times, I got great deals. Thanks again!

You will be asked to enter your pick up and drop off times, just like booking at the regular car rental sites.
