I know about Priceline in NYC. If you bid for a room in Ct., is it possible to get a room for 4 or 5 (2 adults and kids)?

Every Priceline bid is automatically officially for 2 people. Outside of large cities, the odds are better that you'll be able to negotiate with the hotel and arrange a room for more people.
Outside of large cities, we have gotten larger Priceline rooms which could have accomodated a couple extra people. When I have made special requests, they have almost always been granted - two beds, non-smoking room, room on an upper floor, etc. I have only reserved with Priceline when those were not requirements though.
Outside of larger cities there are many more hotles with double/doubles (2 double beds). That culd work for 4 - dpending on who you are - but not for 5.
But - if y ou bid Priceline you are bidding on a room for 2. And if 4 of you turn up, while the hotel may have a room for you - they are no longer bound by the Pricline contract and can charge whatever they want.
So - I would just look for deals on all the various discount sites for the # of people you really have (travelzoo, kayak etc).
Thanks.
Sometimes it is still cheaper to bid on two rooms on Priceline than to get one room at regular price! Hotels will usually try to put you in adjoining rooms (if they can) - but, of course, they are not bound to do so.
