PRICELINE Disputes -- Has anyone been successful in receiving a refund?
See related message above concerning the Fort Lauderdale Holiday Inn Beach Hotel. I want to get my money back. I prepaid thru priceline, and, interestingly, when I was checking out -- If you want to dispute the charge with pricelinen or hotwire, you need a zero invoice from us indicating the date you checked out." This was after no prompting from me, leading me to believe that others have gone after Priceline for its misleading ratings and awards at sub-standard hotels.
Anyone successful?

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I've used Priceline, and thus far, all have been positive. I don't know if this is an option, however, have you called your credit card company to dispute the charge?

I understand your frustration. But I have to say also it's one of the reasons I'm very wary of paying one company for a service that I'm receiving from someone else -- for example priceline.
I read your other post and yes the place sounds awful. But let's be honest here. Was there any actual FALSE representation? Was there somewhere where it told you that it wasn't in a questionable neighborhood. Was there someplace that told you the pool was bigger than it was? Was there a promise that your room would be elegant or even lacking in typical mildew or mold problems?
You can sue if you want, but I can't imagine the basis for getting your money back. A three star rating doesn't really mean a thing, except that the hotel has the facilities which are listed, and I'm assuming they did.
Incidentally I do hope you travel with a camera and took pictures, particularly of the room. The size of the pool or the closeness to questionable activities are certainly no reason to expect a refund. Cleanliness or obvious problems in the room -- torn carpeting, broken items, visable mold or mildew -- those items could get you a refund, I would think.

I can understand your frustration but your gripe should probably be with the hotel. Priceline provided you a paid reservation at a 3 star hotel. Just because Holiday Inn maintains it like a dump, doesn't make it a 1 star. You can try suing them but I can't see how they would be in breach of tort when every leading travel publisher considers it a 3 star. I think you're best to dispute the charge on your CC and keep your fingers crossed. I had a "buyers assurance" program with one card that guaranteed satisfaction on all purchases with the card and I was able to reverse a subjective charge once by simply saying "I'm not satisfied and if you don't reverse the charge then cancel this card right now". If I were you, I'd be mad too but you're probably not going to get far with PCLN.
