If you only have one night in San Francisco I'd suggest you take a cab to another part of town for better dining choices. North Beach is a short cab ride away. I'd recommend the Rose Pistola there. Or, in the Marina district there's Plumpjack, Betelnut or the Brazen Head. Don't feel you have to limit yourself. Fisherman's Wharf is the touristy end of the city and mostly populated by subpar restaurants catering to tourists.

Well..I'd agree with taking a cab ride.If you want to go only a short way try "Boulevard". It's right off the Embarcadero. I'd also recommend having the concierge make your reservation which you absolutely will need. Beyond that there are many very good restuarants in the city. Check out your sources for those in the Marina &North Beach. Both will be very short cab rides.

If you can get a reservation--Gary Danko's on Northpoint; seafood (best wharf has to offer, whihc is not to say the best)--McCormick & Kuleto's; small, California cuisine--Zax (Powell & Taylor): vietnamese--Ana Manera (Ãsp?). All in wharf area, if you are committed to wlaking distance.

I also can recommend Scoma's (Cioppino) or go to north beach (walkable in Feb., I've done it many times), I liked the Cioppino at Cafe Michealangelo better than Scoma's although both were good. Now you have me craving Cioppino again, I thought I was over that.

bj you'd probably have to have a pretty early dinner as the ferries don't run very late. Most leave Sausalito by 7:30ish to get back to SF by 8:00. Weekends have earlier schedules. Here's one web site for a schedule:http://www.transitinfo.org/Sched/GF/SAUS/A/
