This was my first summer in 3 years without a 2 week trip to Kauai. I can't wait to join this countdown...let's hope it's soon!

Icee I am trying... Our trip is a low budget one - I used miles for the tickets, timeshare for the week in Oahu ...I have a lot of Starwood points but am working on the flights... Here's to hoping I can get there!

LOVE Kauai..plane leaving LAX while boarding the hydrolic pump went out..6 hour wait in LAX..got upgraded to first class...woooo hooo..got in at 3am!
They gave us $600 in free air coupons..I feel a new countdown coming up!

33 days until we arrive at Lihue - 10 days on the South Shore, Poipu area and 5 lovely days at the Hanalei Bay Resort, Bamboo Bldg. oceanfront with a fabulous view of Bali Hai! Any new restaurants in the past 3 years?

klq...hope you're not disappointed in what you'll find in Poipu.

If we don't golf at Kiahuna or Poipu Bay we will prob skip Poipu this trip.

We are still recovering from the 3-4x we stayed 3 weeks on Kauai.
VERY hard to get back in the swing of things because we were so bored to death.

Exactly two months until touchdown at Lihue--much to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day.

Its time that I got in on this.... I finally counted the DAYS, not just the months. And in 175 days, we will be touching down in Oahu, and 18 nights later flying back from Maui. That leaves lots of time for Kauai, in between, and I can't wait to get back there!!
(What does one have to do, to become a member of the Kauai Poultry Admiration Society?)

klq, We were in Hanalei in 2007 and Bar-a-cuda was still pretty new. Have you eaten there? I'd give it a try if you like small plates, great food, but fairly high prices.

Like you, we're spending the first part of our trip in the Poipu area (Omao) and I am looking forward to exploring the area some more. It has been several years since we've stayed down there. We'll be back in...285 days

kanunu, It will have been three years since out last time on the hell-hole by the time we finally get back. Too long!

iamq, we were there in May.......and, trust me....it's still a hell hole y'all! Go on back to Maui again!

16 days till we take off for Oahu!!!

We booked our flight using miles a week ago for a last minute getaway at the end of October. Then we luckily found a great place to stay in Hanalei for 10 nights. But before we actually booked the cottage, our plans were put on hold and we thought we might have to reschedule. When it turned out that we could go ahead as planned, the place we wanted was taken. As a matter of fact, we couldn't find any place in Hanalei that we could afford, so we will be staying 2 nights at the Aston Makaiwa and 8 nights in Anini beach. I hear Anini beach is beautiful. I hope so! We'll be visiting Hanalei, but it's not the same as staying there. 12 days and counting......

Pilates, after the lighthouse, Anini Beach is my favorite Kauai hang out!

Thanks i2!!! Glad to hear that. Here's hoping that the delay brings us a blessing in disguise. Don't get me wrong. It's hard for me to feel sorry for myself - considering our destination! It's just that I had dreamt of our return to that sleepy town and now we'll be trying something different, and more secluded. Maybe this visit we'll get out and explore the island a little more than we ever have before. Bring it on!

Anini beach is so gorgeous..you'll have fun no matter where you are Pilates.

it's been a month since we got home and we miss it so much.

ksucat: Wow, this is great to hear. Thank you. Did you get your groceries in Princeville? I anticipate more cooking at "home" since it's pretty much all residential in Anini beach, right? Actually, we kind of like knowing what we're eating, so we're ok with eating in more often. You're the 4th person who has recently told me how much you like Anini beach. I look forward to having a lovely time. It's exciting! Only nine more days!

Pilates... looks like we're on da nor shore Kauai at the same time... maybe this calls for a gtg!!!

BTW... the Foodland in Princeville is pretty much the only place for groceries on the nor shore. Make sure to sign up for the Makaii card for extra savings... and buy yourself a lovely cd on the way out. aaahhhhhh. almost aloha...

15 Days. I am traveling with a friend who has never been to Hawaii. It is always a special experience to introduce others to favorite spots, and see things anew through their eyes.

Barbara - Hawaii is so magical and Kauai the most (for me) I could not get our timeshare on Kauai so Oahu it is - and I will take it! 11 days!

I AM on Oahu & am very excited

We are loving it.. rain and all - had a wonderful day on Oahu - sat through a timeshare presentation and I tell you what - if they would have had the Kauai Marriott available dh would have done it and yes, next year it would have been Kauai! But alas, they did not - and we do not have an extra 20,000 laying around anyway ..

I kissed my niece so long yesterday. In a few hours she will be one the first step (to LA) on her trip to her new life in Hawaii. She will be there Thursday and does not intend to ever come back. She said if I want to see her again I have to come there. Such bad luck I have, huh? She even offered to pay my air fare.

Leaving friday for Kauai and staying at the Marriott until Wednesday. Then we have 4 days in Honolulu. Anyone else going from the 13-18th?

Jeeman, hope you got some sunshine on Kauai! Past experiences have been warm and sunny in Nov but I've been reading about the recent rainfall and flooding in the Garden Island newspaper online, hopefully short-lived. We don't go til Dec 4 this year. Dark rainy and windy here in the Pacific North West so at least in Hawaii it's a WARM rain!
