Poland Springs Inn--Who's Been and What's Up?

I am looking to plan a getaway to Southern Maine and have come across the Poland Springs Inn. The rates are incredibly inexpensive (e.g. $28 per night including breakfast and diner). Who's been, is it worth it? The property seems like a lovely old resort hotel and I am concerned it could be run down (e.g. is the pool functional) Thank you.

You need to bring your own soap, towels, and water glasses. Televisions are B&W only. One pillow per person -- but sheets, pillow cases and blankets are included. It's very rustic. Children under 18 are not allowed. A few steps above camping -- like adult camp.

It's a great place for a cheap golf vacation, and there is a beautiful Maine lakeside State park nearby. Very quiet, VERY old, quite clean and the food is no-frills but more-than-edible. It's an incredibly good deal but don't expect the Ritz. You carry your own bags etc.

Well, the setting is gorgeous and the golf course is nice. The entertainment is pretty good, if hokey. The food is pretty good. Nothing memorable; nothing obectionable. Lots of it. Accomodations are clean and neat. Some rooms are quite compact. It's a plain and simple sort of place. Popular with Seniors who love that you can stay longer for less. The website accurately describes everything about the place. It is definitely not "run down". But, "functional" would describe the decor and facilities.

P.S. I would never use "lovely" to describe anything about the place, other than the scenery.
