Poipu condos

Any recommendations of Condos around Poipu with a pool? Also, any comments regarding Poipu shores, Kuhio shores or Prince Kuhio Resort?

We stayed at the Nihi Kai condos in Poipu...lovely landscape and pool. Short stroll (3 minutes) to the 'rocks' at the end our our lane to join the nightly sunset party. The sunsets get a standing ovation EVERY night. We booked through Suite Paradise.

Kuhio Shores and Prince Kuhio are across the street from one another on Lawai Road. Kuhio Shores is oceanfront on the water side of the road, while Prince Kuhio is across the street behind Kuhio Shores. However, Prince Kuhio units do have oceanviews, as the property is situated in such a way that you will see the ocean from your Lanai. Kuhio Shores is 3 stories, I believe, but has no pool. Prince Kuhio is also 3 stories ( no elevator) but does have a small pool area, nothing fancy. Both places offer very affordable accommodations on the South Shore, Prince Kuhio probably the least expensive. Prince Kuhio has studios which are not that easily found in condo complexes. Units are individually owned in both complexes, so decor will vary from unit to unit. You can rent units on this website vrbo.com
( vacation rentals by owner) Both these complexes are in a good location on the South Shore. Both are right near the Beach House restaurant which is one of the best on the island. The beach near the Beach House restaurant is one of the best on the South Shore for snorkling.

Poipu Shores looked pretty nice to me (we were staying just down the road last month). There is also Poipu Palms and Poipu Makai (tiny pool) in the same area. Kuhio Shores is more convenient to the small nearby beaches.

We stayed at Poipu Makai, watched the dolphins, whales, and sea turtles from the lanai. We rented through Garden Island rentals. Ultimate Kauai Guidebook has photos of most condo complexes.

Check out the Alihi Lani. It's a small condo complex with a pool, and just down the road from the Sheraton. It is right across the road from a rocky beach, so you look out on the ocean from your lani. We stayed a couple of years ago. It was new, well-priced and wonderful.

Last year my son got married on Kauai and we stayed at the Makahuena close to poipu beach, it was clean , awesome view, nice pool, the master bedroom was huge with a patio facing the ocean and there were 2 additional bedrooms, large kithen-dining area , laundry, really nice.

We leave on Friday for Poipu Shores. I have not been there before. We are are renting a 1BR oceanfront condo directly from the owner. If you look at a photo of the pool, there is a large wood deck overlooking that pool. The unit we are renting shares that deck with its next door neighbor. Can't wait to go. I hope the whales are still around.

We rented a condo from the owner through www.vrbo.com. Located in Poipu Kai in the Sands section which fronts on Shipwreck beach and also has easy access to Poipu beach. Nice pool as well.

We stayed at Makahuena last December. Although there have been many negative posts (not to mention Ultimate Kauai's remarks) we booked it anyway. The location could not have been better, right on edge overlooking ocean. We saw humpbacks and babies right off of our balcony. Very clean, cute 2 bedroom condo, 2 levels, fully stocked kitchen and laundry machines> They have a cleaning service every day if you wanted it for a little extra, if not it was fresh towels and sheets. The best part was the week of Christmas we only paid $165 per night. Nice pool and lawns.

My family was also staying in a three bedroom which was not as nice, looked very dated and worn, yucky recliner in living room, chipped wood tables, but when they asked to move the management gave them a few different choices...I guess my long winded point was it is a great location and clean with wonderful views, just try to view condo first.

Also can recommend Makahuena. We're booked there again in September in an oceanfront. Love the location, saw sea turtles right out our window. Very quiet, except for the sound of waves . Great if you want to take a nice walk along the ocean down to the Hyatt one way and then the other way to Poipu Beach.

I stayed at Poipu Makai about 5 years ago, its a small condo complex but was very nice. Two bedroom, with the master bedroom adjacent to the living room wall - both with sliding door and attached lanai. Sunset views were perfect every night. It is along a cliff that you can walk down to and see turtles, whales, dolphins (also seen right from the lanai). There is a pool, but around back and we didn't use it. The beautiful Hyatt resort is close-by, we walked over one day to enjoy their pool and a couple nights to enjoy the restaurants and bars.
