Dear Linda:
Branson is a destination I travel often as a tour planner and escort for Rainbow Travel Service in Oklahoma City. I would caution you to phone ahead to see what show schedules are for the ones that interest you. Many of the entertainers do not perform after Dec. 15. Some limit their schedules and may perform Dec. 28 - Dec. 31. This is usually a slower time of year for motorcoach travelers, so the traffic should not be bad. You can send away to the Branson Tourism Convention and Visitors Bureau, P. O. Box 1897, Branson, Mo. 65615...ask for maps and show schedules and list of hotels.
1-800-214-3661.
I usually call direct to the shows and obtain tickets direct. However, there are receptive operators who will charge an additional fee to plan your tour for you.
The Welk Resort is a lovely property and you feel like a member of the family here. 1-800-505-welk. I believe they can handle any of your show ticket requests if you decide to stay there.
Entertainers that may be performing at that time: Shoji Tabuchi 417-334-7469
His show is usually a sell-out so book now.
Jim Stafford Show 417-335-8080
Lawrence Welk Show 1- 800-505-welk
Grand Palace 1-800-595-1301
Silver Dollar City Christmas Festival
1-800-417-7770
I have many favorite shows: Andy Williams, Bobby Vinton & Glen Miller Orchestra, The Osmonds, Jim Stafford, Shoji, the Welk show with the Lennon Sisters, Phillip Wellford Comedy Show, Branson City Lights, Sons of the Pioneers, Remember When, Imax show.
The weather can be crisp @ 35 degrees, possible snow or ice??? HOwever, it could also be 45- 50 and sunny. You are always traveling on hills.....remember you will be in the Ozark Mountain Range.
You have the best though....awesome Canadian Rockies!!
Other nice hotels: The Park Inn
The Ozark Regal, The Grand Ramada,
The Budgetel.
Good luck and let me know all about your trip. Pat
Dear Pat:
Thank you for all your information - I will certainly call ahead as you suggest regarding the shows. Actually, we will be staying at a time share in Branson - Plantation Inn at Falls Creek.
Will let you know about my trip on my return in the new year. Thanks again
