I may become a Fodors expert by default because I don't see many other Pocomoke reports. We've been to Pocomoke several times, a couple times camping at Shad Landing, a couple times passing through on the way to or from the beach, and most recently delivering our 16 yr old son and two friends to the camp ground at Shad Landing while we stayed at a B&B nearby in Pocomoke City, Friendship Farm.

The B&B is on a bluff above the Pocomoke River, an old quiet river stained tea-brown by the bald head cypress trees growing on the river banks. The river used to be busy shipping iron ore and lumber from Snow Hill to the Chesapeake and then up to Philadelphia, but now it's quiet with current reversing with the tides. Friendship Farm is a beautiful old house with four or five guestrooms, beautiful lawn and shade trees, surrounded by fields of corn and soybeans. Wonderful breakfasts. Wonderful places to sit and watch the river. And a dock where you can sit or jump in the river.

We had dinner in Snow Hill one night and took our kids for dinner another night to the Amigos restaurant in Pocomoke, and drove to Chincoteague, about 1/2 hour away, one afternoon. We also went swimming at the pool at Shad Landing and rented a motor boat to explore the river and creeks. There's a new museum in Pocomoke City which is fun and interesting.

I don't anticipate tourism swamping Pocomoke anytime soon, but I'd like to recommend this town as a place to explore when you're visiting better known towns in the area, like Chincoteague, Berlin, Snow Hill, Ocean City, etc.
