Plymouth or Cape Code/NEED help
We will be leaving Providence RI on 7-01-16 and would like to stay somewhere along the coast before we return on 7-04-16. So we have 3 nights. Our flight leaves on 7-04 at 12:00 noon. We need to return rental car before we check in. Where would be a nice place to stay on Cape Cod or should we stay in Plymouth. I think it is an hour from Plymouth to airport. Need your ideas or suggestions please. Also if you know of a good hotel in either areas I would appreciate the help. I know prices are probably high but looking for a 3 or 4 star place if possible.
Thanks for your help.

I might also look at coastal RI - Tiverton, Bristol, etc. Beautiful area. Unfortunately, can't offer specific lodging recommendations.
Be careful about travel back to airport on 7/4. It is end of holiday weekend. If weather is bad, traffic will start early. I would allow more than an hour - probably I would at least double time on map quest plus time to return car.

Plymouth to Green airport is a bit longer than an hour without traffic. Where are you spending the other days? Coming onto the Cape over the 4th is a nightmare (there are only two bridges that you can use and on a non holiday weekend they can have miles of backup) so I wouldn't recommend it, especially not for just one night.

Getting off the Cape and it's bridges on a holiday can be very , very time consuming, lots of bumper to bumper traffic even on non holiday weekends. Really horrible traffic jams. You would be thrown into the masses leaving the Cape returning to CT, NY and NJ.
It would be some better from Plymouth and it's beaches south of town, such as Manomet Beach.Staying in Rhode Is would be a safer bet for getting to the airport so early on 7/4.

One of my favorite beaches is Horseneck, near the MA/RI border near New Bedford, on Buzzard's Bay. It's a state reserve rather than a resort beach, so not sure where to recommend staying nearby but you also aren't far from Newport/Middletown. In any case, but might be much less a hassle getting to Providence from there than messing with the Cape, which I'd avoid at that time.
