Please tell me I did the right thing.
After reading different postings about the resorts in Phoenix I cancelled our booking at Hilton Squaw Peak and changed to Hyatt Regency. Please tell me this is a good idea. Also, other than the airport where can you rent a car for the day. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

I'm going to Phx/Scottsdale in mid-April. Rates for Hyatt Gainey Ranch are way higher than Squaw Peak for that time. Did you actually get Hyatt Gainey for same price range as Squaw Peak....? If so, what time of year. Please provide details, as I found the $400+/night for Hyatt Gainey to be out of my range...thanks.

Several years ago I was in Phoenix for one day taking pictures of food, and an executive of a gourmet grocery store -- a woman who really knew her food and hospitality industry stuff -- had to decide where to take me for lunch for the best possible one-meal Phoenix experience.
She picked the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch; food was great , surroundings were great, etc., etc.
You have made a good choice.
(An aside: you can buy an amazing variety of Candian food at the AJ's supermarket in Scottsdale, if you get hungry.)

I hear you loud and clear on the $160/night in June. I'm going easter week which is still prime season. Everything just drops substantially after May 1 for the rest of the summer. My friend got into Fairmont Princess for $120/night last July 4; for my mid-April Princess rate, it's something like $400; same situation with Hyatt Gainey Ranch, and I've exhausted every possible discount possibility I can find. It took some real work just to get the $89 number at the Sheraton. Thanks. Tom.
