21 y.o. son and his friend are going to spring training for a bit in March. As I understand it, they'll spend a day in Glendale and a day in Talking Stick. They may spend some time visiting with other friends at ASU. They will have a car, and are looking for true budget accommodations (max $100/nt.) somewhere in between, or simply convenient to all.
Where would you suggest looking that meets their budget but will also be safe?
Thanks.
Please recommend SAFE budget accommodations in the Phoenix area

I have a friend who has happily and safely stayed at the Hostelling International hostel in Phoenix several times. However, I would recommend getting a 3* or better hotel by bidding on Priceline - check www.betterbidding.com .
WillTravel, I would use Priceline, but I need to guarantee 2 beds.
Maybe use Hotwire, then, and book for 3 people (or choose an option with bed choice). Also check TravelZoo and Groupon.
Best Western I-17 Metrocenter, or Red Roof Inn Phoenix on Willett.
Thank you clarkgriswold.
clark, can you comment on the safety of the following area:
1600 block of N. 13th Ave.
Again, thanks.
Hi Iregeo, according to your need there are some nice budget hotels in phoenix are like Red Roof Inn, Grace Inn Phoenix, Travelodge Phoenix, Best West Inn Downtown.
There is a HI Hostel at 1029 N. 9th St. http://www.hihostels.com/
Never stayed at this one but most HI Hostels are great with a dorm bed for less than $30 night. Nearly all have a kitchen.
Got the Sheraton Tempe for $50 via Hotwire last week; phoned for 2 beds, no problem at all.
Thanks, Sylvia. Is that for dates in March?
Late Feb. However, they usually have a "sale of the day" thing.
They may not be interested but tell them they should see Taliesin West in Scottsdale.

No thank you, starrs.
Okay.
