Please help me get to the Spider-Man 3 premiere in NYC?

We'll be in NYC for the premiere of Spider-Man 3 at the Kaufman Astoria movie theater in Queens on April 30th. Is it possible to get tickets to this? If not, can we still go and check out the celebs going in? How early should we get there? What's the best way (coming from midtown Manhattan)? Any advice would be appreciated--Thanks!

The theater address is 35-30 38th St (bet 35 and 36 Av). It's a little confusing because in that area 36 St actually intersects 36 Av, so be sure to note whether you're following streets or avenues.

Looks like the closest subways are either the N or W to 36 Av, or the R or V to Steinway St.

Very much doubt if you can get tickets without spending the earth - if at all (concierge of your hotel - if a good one - may be able to help - but expect it to be big $$$). But you can certainly go (early) and have a look at the celebs on the red carpet.

As first time visitors will it be safe to travel via subway to Queens at night by ourselves? Or can we take a taxi there and back?

Thanks again!

Subway is perfectly safe. Cab wil be more $ - and while it's not that hard to get a cab from the city to Queens, getting a cab back can be really difficult.

(Cabs mostly operate in Manhattan below 96 St and to/fro airports. In the outer boroughts there are practically no cabs and you need to use public transit, your own car or car services.)

Great--we'll plan on the subway. Anyone been to a premiere before? Wondering how early the crowd starts gathering. I don't want to waste an entire day waiting around, but don't want to show up late and miss the red carpet action.
