My parents are going to Hawaii for the first time this August. My sister and I would love to make sure they get a proper lei greeting (they won't get one with their hotel package).
Can you help us figure out who to call to make this happen? Thanks in advance!

Gina, how are they getting to their hotel? When I sent my folks to Hawaii, I asked the limo driver about a lei greeting and he included it with the limo. He picked them up right at the curb at the airport and personally put the leis on their necks and they loved it! It was more personal and genuine than being herded around in a crowd of tourists on a "hotel package."
There are about many different places that offer this service and the better hotels all do this upon arrival. Just go on the web.
Gosh NoPatience - I wish we were all as smart as you obviously are!! What an unneccessary and rude response. Besides, Gina *is* on the web looking for information. What is your point in being so rude?
Gina - call the concierge at their hotel for a recommendation of a local greeting service or organize the limo as Mel suggested.
cath> Forget to take your meds today my dear??? rude?? Hmmmmmmmmmm..
Maybe Dad will give Mom a lei after they arrive at the hotel. I'm sure your mom will enjoy it more from her husband than some stranger.
Hey I am the real no patience and I did not write second entrance no patience Cathy. I don't like it when people don't look for stuff that is found on the web with a simple email search but perhaps I should have rephrased. And now look at what followed. Hey everybody we may very well be dealing with older people here. Don't mind us Gina but stuff really is at your fingertips on the web, you just sounded like you were panicking unnecessarily.
Gina, Haven't been to Hawaii yet (making first ever trip this August), but got this info out of guidebook Frommer's Hawaii 2001. It says "reliable companies than can greet you (lei greeting) at Honolulu Intn'l on Oahu, Kahului Airport on Maui, Kona Airport on BI, and Lihue Airport on Kauai include":
Greeters of Hawaii 800.366.8559
Kamaaina Leis 808.836.3246
Flowers & Greeters 800.367.5183
Aloha Lei Greeters 800.367.5255
Don't know anything else about them - I haven't called yet, but plan to to surprise my husband on our trip. Aloha.....
I'd suggest you arrange for a lei greeting when they arrive at their hotel, rather than when they arrive in the chaos of a busy airport after a long flight in the busy airport...it will be far more appreciated as part of their hotel arrival. It is true that many hotels uniformly greet their guests with leis, and a call to the hotel to confirm this or to arrange for it (all hotels have access to florist services) should do the trick.
Thank you all of those who provided helpful information. I will be calling one of the greeting services since I did want my parents to have a right-off-the-airplane experience (in spite of the crowd/hassle, etc.) and since they will be renting a car instead of taking a limo.
I wish the hotel had been so helpful! Unfortunately my call there ended without much by way of alternate suggestions.
And in spite of the info being "right at my fingertips," the experience of posters who suggested different methods was far more valuable to me than any name/number I could have just looked up. Thanks, all.
