Please help me find a San Francisco hotel!

Hello. I'll be traveling with a 3- and 6-year-old. Most recommendations on the board are to stay near Fisherman's Wharf but I don't really care for the vibe of that neighborhood.

My dream hotel:

Walking distance to a playground
Walking distance to a few decent restaurants
Easy access to public transportation so that we may explore the city.
Walking distance to supermarket/deli
Not a very crowded or loud neighborhood - or the crowds are a few blocks away

We won't have a car so parking options are not a consideration.
I don't need anything fancy - just something clean and relatively quiet.
Right now, I'm looking at the Stanyan. I know the reviews are not the greatest, but it's hard to resist the playground. Is this area too boring? The Hotel Tomo in looks interesting too...
