Planning to visit Newport between 5/15-5/19

How are the crowds at the mansions on a Saturday or Sunday in May? Also, is Hammersmith Farm, where John F. Kennedy had his wedding reception, closed to the public? I read somewhere that it was. Thank you for any assistance.
