Planning Summer Trip Sun Valley or Tetons

Have done some research & am needing some insight.
We are trying to plan a trip July 2009 where we fly in to either close to Jackson Hole or close to Sun VAlley, stay a wk, get a rental car and drive to my Dad's in Cody WY take him to Doctors appt and tehmn drive back thru either but not both area above.
Anyone have any suggetions which area/where to fly in and get a rental and places to stay on the water for either place? We wer thinking of Four Seasons in JAckson but i am not sure..would prefer more of a quiet water/mtn view?

I don't know your budget or interests, but one of the best trips I ever did was to fly into Hailey, ID, stay one night at the Ellsworth bed and breakfast, drive to Stanley and spend a week at the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch. We hiked, fished, rafted, ate (incredibly well) and generally had one of the greatest trips ever. Highly recommended. My trip report is on this forum. You can click on my screenname and you will see it under trip reports.

In the Tetons we flew into Jackson and spent the week at Signal Mountain Lodge. The food was not on a par with the IRMR, but the scenery was incredible. Either way, you will have a great time.

Now, just to add a little something to your mix, this past Sept we flew to Billings and spent a week at Blue Sky Cabins in Red Lodge, MT . Trip report on that visit is also under my screen name. We used one of our no hike days to drive to Cody so it would be relatively convenient for you.

Happy trails!

We've been to both areas but didn't spend as much time in Sun Valley as we have at the Tetons. The Tetons would be my first choice and if you get tired of the scenery there you can go up into Yellowstone for even more beauty and adventures.

Since we camp, I can't help with loging or food.

If 4 Seasons is in your budget, I'd suggest considering flying into Jackson Hole and staying at Jenny Lake Lodge in the Tetons. Really nice hotel/grounds with an excellent restaurant. Across the road from Jenny Lake. Very easy to make day trips to Jackson or YNP.
