Hi,
Trying to plan fall trip. When is the best time for seeing the changing leaves in N.E. Iowa and Minnesota? I know it is impossible to predict, but just a time span would help.
Here in Colorado the aspen usually peak between Sept. 20-30.
Thanks.
Planning ahead-When is best time for leaf peeping in N.E. Iowa and Minnesota?

Northeast Iowa about October 10-15

We live just south of Minneapolis-it's hard to say for sure, but around here it's around the first or second week of October. It's beautiful-some years better than others.
In New England, the peak season in the northern parts of Vermont and New Hampshire are probably early October, and it moves south across MA in the middle of the month. I'd probably aim for mid October. Columbus Day weekend is one of the busiest for inn's around here.
Here's a site that has a map showing the best time for fall colors in MN.
Late September and early October is probably the best.
