We live in a northern suburb of Minneapolis and my daughter has her heart set on a wedding "up north" at one of three Brainerd area resorts, Breezy Point, Ruttgers, or Craguns. Does anyone have any experience with any of these resorts? How were the accomodations \ grounds? Has anyone attended or had a wedding at one of these resorts that would be willing to share your experience? Any other resorts that we should consider? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

We vacagtioned at Craguns for years and while I think its a fabulous place for a vacation, I don't know how they'd do a wedding there but I'm sure Dutch and Irma have plenty of ideas. You also might want to check out GrandView Lodge for the wedding or Maddens.
These are all well known resorts in Minnesota and I would think they all have had a number of weddings over the years. I would call them and get some info from them or look up their web pages. I have been to weddings at two lodges on the Gunlfint Trail near Grand Marais and all were very nice. Think you have to get information from the lodges - you might want to drive up there and check them out and see if they offer what you would like. Good Luck!!
Not sure if this information is still timely or not as the first post was May of this year, but here goes.
For my money's worth, I would seriously look at Grand View Lodge, Madden's, or Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge.
Grand View and Maddden's are positioned nicely on Gull Lake, (slightly north west of Brainerd) Grand View is on the north end, Madden's on the southern end. Both resorts take great pride per the grounds and have excellent sites for weddings and receptions.

Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge is the intimate, remote choice. A smaller resort, tucked away from the hussle and bussle of Brainerd on beautiful Bay Lake. There is also an island off the shore of Ruttger's that some fortunate bride and grooms have had the opportunity to be wed.

These are just my thoughts, having photographed at all three resorts, you would be just fine with any of the three above choices. They all strive to make the best wedding event experience humanly possible.
