Hubby and I are coming to Philly for a wedding at the Franklin Institute and looking for nice, clean, convenient place to stay. There are so many choices, I was hoping for some help. We will have a car but would like to be fairly close unless there is an amazing deal.

There are several hotels on the Franklin Parkway, and all of them are good. Maybe no bargains, but, since you're coming for a wedding, I'd say the convenience factor trumps cost.
The reason I say this is that Philly traffic can be a nightmare at any time. And, if you've never driven in this area, you can end up driving for a while before you understand how to get to where you want to go. The first time I drove some family on the Eakins Circle, for instance, I said, "Ever driven in the Indy 500 or a demolition derby? Well, you're about to have both experiences at the same time!"
In other words, you may THINK you've given yourself enough time to get to the wedding, but you'll likely find yourself in a pickle very soon. And if there's gridlock nearby, it won't help to take the bus or a taxi -- you're still stuck. So just consider the cost of a Parkway hotel part of your gift to the bride and groom.
We've stayed at the Sheraton Downtown (201 N 17th Street at Race St) several times. It's your basic high rise Sheraton and we walked to the Franklin. In fact, our room faced the northside and you could see the Franklin and the PMA. We walked almost everywhere from there although I wasn't dressed for a wedding or in high heels. There are frequently offers to stay there, sometimes including parking which can be about $20 per night for valet with in/out privileges. I would stay there again.
