Places to go in January
We're looking for vacation spots in mid-January. It's been posted that Aruba is HOT--can you please elaborate? Any suggestions for locations with temps in the 70s and low 80s? Thanks.

Average daytime temperature during January in Aruba is in the mid to low 80's F. Average High is in the high 80's.
You can research average temperatures for just about any location in the world at the following websites:
www.weatherbase.com
www.wumderground.com
There are literally thousands of destinations in the world where you will find January temperatures in the 70's and low 80's. It would be easier to make suggestions if you would give us some idea of what you'd like to see and do during your trip, how far you are willing to travel, an idea of your budget, etc. The more information you can supply about you and your likes and dislikes the easier it will be to steer you in the right direction.

would be going out of NY and would like to keep flight to a maximum 4 or 4 1/2 hours. Would like a mix of pure relaxation (beach/pool)and fun activities,culture/arts, dancing, nightlife(not casinos)with weather in the 70s-80s. that's pretty much my ideal vacation.

Really, any of the Caribbean Islands from Puerto Rico south as wel as Cancun, Cozemel, Playa del Carmen, Belize and Costa Rica will meet your requirements of temperature. As I said, there are litterally 1,000's of hotels & resorts to choose from.
Why don't you use the links on the Fodods Caribbean home page to read about the different islands. They each have something different to offer. Once you find an island or two that appeal to YOU it will be easier to narrow your choice. You can also read through many of the posts on the Caribbean forum to give you some idea of what to expect. One last hint, make a list of the 10 or 15 things you would like in an island vacation. Put them in order of importance. No one destination "has it all" but you can find one that comes close - the thing is the contributors here can't help you without knowing what you want!

Thanks for suggestions.
I tried going through the forum on the Caribbean and it's just overwhelming.
I think I did mention what we were looking for in my last post.
Please, make suggestions--my husband is set against Aruba saying he thinks it will be too hot and we'll wind up in the room.
It's up to me to find a place which will be in the 70's to low 80's within a 4 hr. flight from NY. We've been to Puerto Rico and Cancun would like to try something different. Thank you!
