Places to eat in Montelier, VT
I am a resident of the state of Vermont and yesterday took a visiting family member to Montpelier for lunch. We had lunch at the Main Street Grill and Bar and had terrible service. (at 2:30) We waiting nearly an hour for two Turkey Panini sandwiches they arrived soggy, burnt on the bottom, and with very little turkey. They couldn't have grilled them they seemed more like they were fried in a frying pan in loads of butter. YUK! Don't order that sandwich there!!! Also don't order ice tea unless you like it strong and black.

For arbutusbeach: If you'll be anywhere near Littleton, NH, highly, highly, recommend Bailiwicks at the Thayer Inn on Main Street (separate entrance in rear).
We actually had reservations elsewhere for two evenings, but saw their menu in the local dining guide - which was SO appealing!
Dinner was so magnificent we cancelled our reservations for the next night to dine there again, so we could try other offerings on the menu.
The food is incredible here (and we just got back from Paris...).

And here we are in the little town of St. Alban's Vermont where we had a perfectly delicious meal last evening at an establishment known as Jeff's...amazing what you can find along the way! The ambiance was delightful, food perfect, wine list extensive! One more week of roaming the countryside! Djk, thanks for the tip..will look into it.not sure of our destinations...

The Main Street Grill and Bar is run by the New England Culinary Institute and usually has good food and at least ok service.
Other places to eat in Montpelier are Sarducci's (Italian) and (for dinner) the Black Door (bistro)

I live on the West Coast but I visited Vermont three years ago and still remember my delicious lunch at Sarducci's. Also, there was a wonderful little bakery up the street from there, maybe called La Brioche???? Oooohh.... it was good too. I just love Vermont.

I've never had much luck in Montpelier. Or Stowe for that matter.
When I'm in that area I always stop at the Alchemist Brewpub in Waterbury for great food.Try their Belgian fries with spicy ketchup and garlic mayonaise.
