Place to stay in Ogunquit
I'm trying to pick a place to stay in Ogunquit for a day or 2. I will be out most of the day, so I don't want to spend a lot. Most of what I see in my price range ($100, mid week) are those upscale motels along rt 1. I'm not a fan of motels in general (I prefer interior entrances to guestrooms) but it looks like that's what's available. Some I've looked at have some rooms in multistory buildings. I also don't like frilly B&Bs but I think the ones in that area are too high priced for me anyway (years ago I stayed at the Hartwell House, which was fine)
Tripadvisor reviews are not that helpful since most are raves, including those that praise the supermarket muffins at breakfast The negative ones seems off point to me like the place is horrible just because there are no microwaves in the room. One thing see a lot in reviews are places with upgraded some rooms or parts of rooms, (flat screen TVs, new beds) but with dirty carpets and moldy bathrooms untouched
So out of these choices or others you've been to recently, do you have a suggestion for me?
Gorges Grant
Admiral's Inn
Meadowmere
Beachmere, Sparhawk, Anchorage, the ones on the water are much more expensive unless you know of some secret discount that you care to share

I have been going to Ogunquit for 8 summers now with my family. We rent the same house right near Footbridge Beach (we like it better than the main beach - though you can walk from one to the other) each year. Some days, when we have friends come up, we recommend that they rent at the Footbridge Beach Motel. Yes, it is a Motel, but the owners are wonderful, they have a pool, the rooms are large, with microwaves, and it is walking distance to Footbridge Beach. We are typically pretty picky about hotels, but really enjoy it there whenever we go just for a night or two.
Better yet, it's right around the corner from Beach Plum Lobster Farm where you can get the best, least expensive, lobster & steamers cooked to order and you can eat them on the picnic tables there, or at the motel.
Good luck!

Lookin_Glass, if I have something lined up for other nights and have a backup, I was going to try some of the Shore Road places the day before I go But I may be on the road with no time to spare and need to have something solid booked.

Ogunquit Resort Motel was very clean and the room was nice, I think we had a "superior" room, they have various levels. The corridors in our wing (room 107) were indoors though you could park right outside your window.
Ogunquit-Wells motel was also very clean but the rooms weren't as nice and were smaller. Wells-Moody motel was right on the road and rooms were small.
Check at OgunquitMotel.com for internet specials. Room 107 was about halfway back from Route 1 and we heard no traffic noises.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I did not end up staying in Ogunquit but I got a quote for a decent rate of about $120 at the Sea Rose Suites . The other place I would consider the next time I'm in southern Maine is the Ocean Woods Resort near Kennebunkport. I passed by it a couple days earlier and it looked pretty good for about $95.

blh, we didn't end up staying in Ogunquit due to a combination of work issues and weather not turning out so great. It looked like the nicest place I could find for the money and it's on my list for a possible stay next summer or fall, so if you get there before I do, let me know how it was
