Pioneer Square/Safeco field

Going to 3 night games at Safeco field middle of June. From reading trip advisor I see where Pioneer Square is an area with lots of drunks and potheads and not advisable to be there at night. My question is , will it be safe at night walking from the field to our hotel which is the Best Western at 77 Yesler Way Pioneer Sq. , or will we be hounded by potheads and drunks along the way?

Has anyone stayed at this property lately?

I am sitting right where you are talking about (my office is in Pioneer Square facing Occidental Square just off 1st Avenue).

We put people up who visit on business at the Best Western all the time. It's a decent place to stay.

You will be fine walking home from the stadium to the hotel. Lots of people are out and about, especially when a game lets out. Someone might ask you for "spare change" but you will not be "hounded" by "potheads and drunks".

Tripadvisor is rife with alarmist posts about downtown Seattle, some actually being removed due to racist overtones. Pay them no mind.

Of course, walking around at 3 in the morning with $20 bills hanging out of your pockets, not the best plan.

You will be safe in a crowd of many hundreds or thousands and there will be plenty of activity on the streets at that time. Fret not. Enjoy.

Thank you all for your prompt replies. I had figured as much but my travelling companion wanted input from locals. Thanks again

Be aware that the newly remodeled Amtrak station is within walking distance of the stadium.
The Seattle HI Hostel (former American hotel) is also within walking distance of the stadium and station.

Glad things worked out at the hotel. Happy to hear that, and thanks for posting back. Sorry about the games
