I've recently put up a set on Flickr of photographs that I took during a visit to Sapelo Island, one of the Sea Islands or barrier islands off the Georgia coast, back in March 2008. Sapelo was the subject of a recent article in the "New York Times" which reported that the small African-American community that has survived on the island since the days of slavery is now at risk of losing its homes because of property tax increases resulting from the real estate boom along the coast.
