Phonix to Denver thru Utah--road trip

Hi--my daughter and I are flying into Pheonix in mid April and are driving from Phoenix thru Utah and then into Denver. We have 7 driving days and would like to make the most of it. The first day we are flying into Phoenix and staying nearby for the night. That is the only hotel that we have booked so far. We have been in Sedona and the Grand Canyon (south rim) on a prior trip.

Are you going to have a big drop off fee in Denver?
My suggested route: Phoenix to Page - maybe a short boat trip.
Page to Bryce Canyon NP - great scenery
Bryce Canyon via Rt. 12 (scenic) to Torrey
Torrey on Rt. 24 through Capitol Reef with a detour over to Goblin Valley State Park.
From Goblin Valley head through Green River to US191 south to Moab. See Arches NP and maybe Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands NP.
Next stop is Glenwood Springs Colorado. There is bus service from Glenwood up to Aspen.
If you still have a day, see what you can of Rocky Mt. National Park before heading into Denver.

Suggest buying one/some of these books. All cost less than one night motel room.

1. All parks in the west - Fodor's The Complete Guide to the National Parks of the West .
All of western US About 330 pages.

2. Fodor's Utah: with Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Capitol Reef & Canyonlands National Parks
About 325 pages

3. Overall touring guide of southern Utah Parks: Utah Parks Driving, Hiking and Mountain Biking.
Available in Kindle (about 1,000 pages) and paper back format (about 750 pages). This book gives a time saving mile-by-mile driving guide.

4. Hiking(serious): Hiking, Biking and Exploring Canyonlands National Park and vicinity
Michael R. Kelsey has a host of hiking books each about 300 pages of small print.

5 . Hiking (family): Wow Utah Canyon Country
Very well illustrated. About 440 pages.

6 . Backroad 4-wheel driving: Canyonland National Park Favorite Jeep Roads and Hiking Trails.
White Rim Trail (road) is the premier scenic area in Island In The Sky. This 190 page book has an excellent description of Island In The Sky 110 mile road.

I would probably take 17 to 89 north. Stop and visit Sunset Crater and Wupatki - an interesting ruin just a short way east of 89.

If you haven't seen a slot canyon, go to Page and visit Antelope Canyon then take 163 east. If you have been in one, from 89 pick up 160 to Kayenta, and take 163 visit Monument Valley .

163 will meet 191 near Bluff, take 191 north to Moab. Spend 3 or 4 days in Moab and visit both Arches and Canyonlands NPs.

From Moab, take 128 (longer but fantastic scenery) or 191 north to I-70 and head for Denver. If you have time and Trail Ridge Road is open, take 40 up to/through Rocky Mt NP.

There is lodging along the way on 89 in Cameron AZ at Cameron Trading Post and in Page, on 163/160 in Kayenta, Monument Valley, Mexican Hat, and Bluff, on 191 in Blanding, Monticello, and Moab. Probably some other places too, but for sure there.
