Philadelphia airport hotel (inexpensive)?

I am trying to find out if there are any hotels in the PHL area that are not expensive - but safe and not a long drive from the airport.

My searches aren't finding anything for less than $150 range.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I always stay at the Airport Hilton OR the Airport Hampton Inn. You can find both on Hilton's website (check all brands in the search box). I've never paid more than $150 for a night at either and sometimes the park and fly rate is worth the extra.

I have stayed at the Airport Holiday Inn it was not very nice - I won't go back.

This is the perfect situation when you should use Priceline. The Marriott airport is going for about $65.

Ditto, Priceline for an airport hotel is definitely the way to go if you are worried about saving money. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com or www.betterbidding.com to check out how Priceline works and what hotels people are getting for what price at the PHL airport. That Marriott would be a 3-star hotel I believe. If you bid for 3-star airport you may get one of several other hotels besides the Marriott, but they would all be close to the airport and have shuttles - but the Marriott is right at the airport, you can walk I believe.

The Fairfield should come in under $150.

I've stayed at both Fairfield and Hampton Inn. Both were immaculate, had nice comfortable beds and good showers. No art on the walls, but free internet access. Both were quiet and had parking right in front of the hotels. Easy access to the airport and the freeway.

Book the cheapest room you can get that allows cancellations, then keep trying. Last October, over two days the rates dropped nearly a $100 a night when I kept re-visiting the Marriott site (They have about 6 different hotels under them- Courtyards, Fairfield, etc), sidestep.com and hotels.com.

There was a big convention in town and at first I was being quoted nearly $300 for these economy hotels!!

I would get different rates each time I logged in to the same sites, and sometimes they showed "no vacancy" and 10 miutes later they were numerous room categories.

Eventually I got a rate of $139 or so and was very happy with my room.

I go ta great price at the airport Marriott using a AAA rate. If you have AAA try using that rate.

I agree with everyone who suggested Priceline. This is when Priceline is perfect.
