Peristyle or Upperline

My boyfriend and I are trying to decide where to have our one "splurge" dining experience during our trip to N.O.. We've narrowed it down to Peristyle or Upperline based on Zagat's reviews and guidebook reviews. Has anyone eaten at either of these restaurants?

They are both fantastic. Peristyle is in the FQ, and it is French. Maybe a nouvea-French, but definitely French and definitely great.
Upperline is also great, but it is uptown (on Upperline!), if that's a consideration.
Get reservations early as both are likely to be crowded that time of year.

I like Upperline, it has unique dishes and is away from the FQ crowds. Try the liver.

Peristyle is a masterpiece! It is the one restaurant we have to visit in New Orleans.

Both of these places are good choices. Peristyle will be hard to get a reservation at, which may be the deciding factor.

Peristyle is in the French Quarter, Upperline is an easy Cab or streetcar ride from the Quarter.

I'd definitely choose Peristyle over Upperline.
