Pelican Beach Resort, Ft. Lauderdale

We'll be staying at the Pelican Beach Resort in Ft. Lauderdale from Christmas Eve to New Years Eve. It looks very nice and gets good reviews but I wouldn't mind a personal opinion. Has anyone stayed there?

Also, we've been to FL several times and have a couple of favourite places to eat and things to do but would be happy for any suggestions, especially about seasonal events that might be going on at that time.
