Going to meet some family in Golden Gate Park. Need to drive as we're all coming from a distance. Don't want to see a particular place; just want to get together and picnic and visit. Please suggest most reliable places to park.

Day of week?
Makes a big difference whether on a weekday or weekend.
The reason it makes a difference is that some roads in the park are closed on Sundays. Also , of course, the park is much more crowded on weekends than on weekdays. That said, last Saturday we were there early ( about 9:30 am) and there was plenty of street parking near Stow Lake. Also, there is an underground pay parking garage near the DeYoung.
As noted above, it is easier to park in GGPark during the week and it is easier to find street parking the further west you go--the further away from the Tea Garden, DeYoung, Childrens' Playground, etc. BTW if you intend to use one of the Park's picnic areas versus just spreading a blanket, you are supposed to have a reservation.
