Help! We were planning on taking the train from Darien to NYC tomorrow late morning. We've done this before, but it just occurred to me that it was always on a Sunday, so we had no trouble parking there for a few days. So now I'm realizing this might be a huge problem, since tomorrow is a week day. I read that there's a private lot; does that fill up, and if not can you park overnight (three days)? If this isn't going to work, any other suggestions? Thanks!!
Parking in CT, train to NYC, help asap!

I can't help you but there's a phone number here for the parking co. http://as0.mta.info/mnr/stations/station_detail.cfm?key=230
You would probably have better luck at a bigger station like Stamford or Norwalk. Is this a day trip or overnight or a few nights? I don't know about leaving vehicle for more than a single day...
Could you just take a taxi to and from Darien station and your home?? Might be about same price and safer for your car.
Deb
Just reread your post; honestly, I would not leave my car for that long at a train station lot.
Most spaces at the smaller town lots are permit only parking during week and may not even allow overnight parking. There are usually some 12 hour meters, but they go pretty fast in morning but even those wouldn't work for you.
Taxi is really about the only thing I can think of for you.
Deb
Darien allows overnight parking for up to 5 days. No we can't take a taxi, we live more than 3 hours away in MA.
I read somewhere else that Stamford fills up, and that this is generally a problem everywhere. I hadn't considered driving all the way in because I don't want to. Technically we could take Amtrak from our city all the way there, but that would be through Boston with a delay, and would take several hours longer and cost significantly more money than driving. Darien has always worked well for us.
Where are you coming from in Mass? New Haven has big secure lot that is ~ $12 per day. I have left my car there for 3 days with no issues
North of Boston.
you shouldn't have a problem finding a spot at the Darien Station. It is much easier to navigate than the STamford parking. I often use it during the week, and arrive after the commuters.
skatedancer - so you think it is okay to take my chances with Darien, then? We will get there around 9:30-10. What should my backup plan be?
Thanks everyone!
The station lot is very likely to be full by 8 am or so. And even if it weren't there's no way I would leave a car in one of those station lots over several nights. Agree to go to one of the larger stations where there are manned lots - or look at the cost of just grabbing a cab to the station.

I found this discussion. Maybe Bridgeport is the way to go.
I would NOT leave my car in Bridgeport.
Just an FYI -- schools are closed this week for winter break. It is possible that the lots will not be as full as usual.
I still think your best bet is New Haven. Its a parking garage and the shortest drive from Boston. It is also inside in case of inclement weather
Definitely New Haven. They have a big secure parking garage.
Thank you for all your replies. We ended up taking our chances with Darien. There were plenty of spots at the private lot, and the attendant said that they never fill up, and they allow overnight parking. So it worked out and our car was still there when we got back.
Glad it worked out for you, even with the crappy weather Thursday morning
I would also agree that New Haven would be best suited for you. I found a great site for hotel information and reviews, http://hotelchicagoreviews.info/
Maxij, that is advertising at its worst. What does a site with Chicago hotel reviews have to do with New Haven.
Monique,
I am leaving for NYC tomorrow , and am also looking to leave my car in Darien. How expensive was the parking? Is the lot located at the station??
