Parking in Charleston

We're going to the Elliott House Inn for a couple of nights and they've told me there's parking across the street in one of the municipal garages for $15 per day. We really don't see a need for our car while we're in Charleston, so I was wondering: should we consider parking outside the city (e.g., at a more reasonable cost)?

If you park your car outside the city, you might end up spending more on taxi fare to and from the lot plus the parking fees at that lot than the $15 to park nearby.

There really aren't any places outside the city to park your car. All the hotels outside the city would still require you to be a guest to park for an extended period of time.

Parking outside the city would be more hassle and cost than you would save.
