Hey All,
I am going to New York for 4 days in mid October. Friday to Tuesday. I am coming down from Maine and looking to find out the best place to park my car for the duration where it is relatively safe and can easily access the train. Looking to oark somewhere in Connecticut and then taking the train the rest of the way.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

New Haven will be closest to you and has a garage for taking Metro North
Also have a look at Stamford - which has a large garage (but I don;t know the cost). It has stops for both Amtrak (more expensive) and Metro North.
Stamford is about an hour to NYC with a RT fare of about $20. New Haven is about 2 hours to NYC with a RT fare of about $30.
Yes, those are your two best choices: New Haven or Stamford. I think White Plains might be more convenient for transit, but it requires you to experience more NYC traffic than the other two and isn't that much closer or cheaper than Stamford.
