Parking at Newark?

We are going to Bermuda next Sunday morning from Newark. Any advantage to parking at an off-site lot as opposed to airport economy lot? We've never driven to Newark so any advice would be appreciated (we'll be coming from CT). The rates (with the off-site lots coupons) appear to be comparable.

Thanks in advance!

I've done the offsite lots before, and they work perfectly well. The advantage is obviously price, and I would certainly recommend doing it. They have shuttles that run quite frequently that will take you between your car and the airport. When you return, you can call the lot and they will dispatch a shuttle to pick you up in your terminal.

The 2 times I've tried to use the long term lots at the airport they have been full, which for some reason they don't tell you til you get all the way out there. They did give us coupons to park in the closer-in lots for the economy price, which worked out well, but it did involve an awful lot of driving around and back-tracking.

thanks to both of you; I wondered about the lots being full since we are going on a Sunday morning and, I would guess, people may not have returned from their trips until later in the day.

anyone have a particular lot they like (or wouldn't recommend).

Thanks again,

Mary

I just had this conversation this afternoon! I've always used Avistar at Newark and haven't had a problem. To park at the aiport you have to be there ridiculously early and take the airtran. Avistar takes about 15 min to get there by shuttle. When you return and call for the shuttle they come promptly and have your car waiting for you. I think they have two locations by Newark and I don't think it matters which you use. Avistarparking.com

We use http://park2fly.com/

You will get more info if you type in "newark airport parking" in the search box.

We always park at the Airport Hilton which is right off Rt 9. They have covered parking and shuttle to/from the airport.

Go to

http://www.airportdiscountparking.com/

and pick newark and your departure day. You will be offered a discount coupon for Avistar and will save a buncha bux.

We have tried all of the various offsite parking sites, and Avistar is by far the best.

Just want to mention that there's a 15% parking tax added on to the stated prices for those lots that are w/in the Newark boundaries (which includes Avistar). However, if the lot is in Elizabeth (just a matter of a few blocks) there is no tax. Something to consider as you make your choice.
