Parking at Biddeford Pool Beach - Maine

A while ago I posted on good places to go with kids to explore tide pools near Portland, ME. One recommendation that came up was Biddeford Pool Beach just south of Portland. In researching this a bit further, I see that parking may be a problem as we are from out of state and would have to purchase a $50 non-resident parking sticker to park for the 2 or 3 hours that we plan to be there. One poster said that there is a restaurant where you can park for $5, if you arrive early enough. Is this the one called Hatties?

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's Hattie's. I do remember that it's a person's name. It's right across the street from the entrance to the parking lot. It was still $5 when we were there 2 summers ago.

Luvmaine, thanks for the quick response - I figured I'd be topping this post several times before I heard from anyone.

Hi Craig! I was searching on google for tidepooling in Maine and came across your post. We are considering a trip there with the kids (6,4 and 2 years old) this summer. We would have liked to go to Acadia National Park where it sounds like there is lots of tidepooling, but it's a little farther than we were hoping to go (coming from Ottawa, CAN). Could you tell me how the tidepools were in Biddeford? Worth the trip? Any other recomendations as far as tidepooling in Maine? Thank you!

Welcome to Fodors! When searching for info and then finding a thread that you want to comment on or ask for additional info, check the date. Craig wrote this post in 2005 and may never see your question. I do see you started your own thread, good job!

Yes - I did notice that, but I also noticed that Craig had very recent posts, so I hoped he would see this. Thanks!
