Check each park's admission cost at

then figure out if a $50 park pass is saving you money.
Admission is per vehicle (no matter how many people are in it).
The advantage of a park pass is it lasts one year - you could always use it on another trip.

Hi Bobby,
The park entrance per vehicle (doesn't matter how many people in the vehicle) for Zion & Bryce it is $20 for each park and each is good for 7 days. Park entrance for Capitol Reef is $5 and is good for 7 days.
That total is $45.00 and the park pass is $50. Just keep in mind that the park pass is good for 1 year from the month you purchase it. As mentioned it is good in National Monuments, National Historic Sites and National Recreational Areas.
As mentioned Kodachrome is a state park and it won't work there.
If there is the slightest chance you will be going to any other parks within a year I would get the $50 pass.

This is confusing as I'd read about the Golden Eagle Pass here previously, but just looked at the website, and the pass for seniors is called the Golden Age Passport, not Golden Eagle. It costs $10 and is available to citizens 62 and older. I want nothing of mine to ever say "Golden Age" on it, but this might be worthwhile as we go often. I don't qualify yet, but...that day is creeping up on me.
The Golden Eagle Pass is a $15 upgrade to the National Parks Pass. Check their website for full details. There is also a Golden Access Pass, free for those who are blind or permanently disabled. You must show proof of medically determined disability and eligibiity for receiving benefits under federal law. Don't know if those who use their dog to alert them to possible stressful situations, (past post) would qualify under these definitions. :/
I'd be inclined to buy the pass, Bobbie. You may have further use for it within the year, and if not, that $5 sure went for a good cause!

OliveOly, my dad has the senior national parks pass. Back when he got his, it was free to those over 62. The family jokes it's him most important asset. Almost all trips to national parks include him just for the free admission

NCgirl. No I don't. I just don't like the Golden Age label period. Ugh. Today's my birthday though, so you've got to cut me some slack. I'm more sensitive than normal!
