Park City lodging advice needed-Dayle or any others...

Hello,

We are planning a long weekend this January in Park City. We do an annual (Whistler, Copper, Breck, Squaw) trip. Looking for ski in ski out...nice, but cost is a factor. Need room for 5 to 7 guys, hot tub, kitchen, two baths ect.
1. Which locations might fit the bill?
2. Is there a lodging agency that is best?
3. Can we obtain a discount on lifts and/or rentals if we book through an agency
4. Any/all other advice welcome.

Thanks!

Hi tim,

First, the town of Park City has a free bus system that goes everywhere you want, so if cost is a factor consider staying somewhere other than ski in/out. You know those are always the most expensive properties.

Second, when is your trip? Skiing during the Sundance Film Festival in January is uncrowded, but lodging is expensive then and should be booked far in advance. MLK weekend is also extremely busy.

There are many lodging companies. Start by looking at www.parkcityinfo.com. Be sure to ask the exact address of the condos that seem to fit, then cross-check with the bus lines/stop locations. Ask them to send you a map of condo location and be sure to ask date of the last total renovation!

For Park City Mtn Resort - the Snowflower condos are ski in and a few steps to lift. The Marriott Mountainside (condo hotel) is right at the base of the lifts in the base area of the resort. Very nice, expensive.

Canyons Ski Resort - I personally would not want to stay here. It's 5 miles from Main Street and bus service is not that frequent.

Deer Valley - I stopped skiing there because I like skiing in the mountains, not between high rise condos and hotels and in people's driveways. But, it seems this is what a large number of skiers want since it keeps getting ranked number 1. Up to you. There are some nice runs. Lodging very expensive, stay elsewhere.

Check out the Silver Pass - it's a multiple day discount package for all 3 resorts.

Come back with more questions

Thanks for the reply...do you know anything about The Loft at Mountain Village? It is more expensive than the Snowflower condos, but is it worth it?
Also, what about Town Pointe at Town Lift?

tim,

It looks like "The Loft" is a rental by owner and is in the PCMR base area - really as close as you can get to the lifts. PCMR base area has multiple restaurants, ski shops, etc. and is a main shuttle bus stop. It does look recently remodeled (and nicely done) which is a good thing because it's in an old building.

This location would be marginally better than the Snowflower condos.

The Town Lift is on lower Main Street. I have not been inside these units. You can take the lift up in the morning and ski right down into town for lunch or at the end of your day. Main Street definitely has the most going on at night if that's what you want.

So many choices!
