Why not take one of the Empire Service Amtrak trains into Penn Station? The fare is likely to be less than what you will pay for parking in a city that you really don't really need a car in.

The most convenient place to park is probably White Plains, but it's not that cheap, though you can take Metro North to Grand Central from there. The furthest north that Metro North goes in NY State is Poughkeepsie, so that is another option, but I think the parking there is outdoors, and the weather is going to be bad this weekend (White Plains has garages).

I think tomfuller may have a good point. You might very well just take Amtrak from Albany or a station even closer to NYC. The difficulty is that the tickets get more expensive as the weekend approaches, and trains will be very very full. If you do go by Amtrak, buy your ticket immediately. And you won't have to deal with driving on potentially icy roads.

There is no parking near subway stops. And parking on the street nearby is NOT recommended - may be towed based on street cleaning rules (and cost more than $1000 to get the car back) or may be removed/stripped.

Not sure about buses from that direction.

Would agree that White Plains and then take Metro North into the city makes sense.

There are 4 Empire Service Amtrak trains from Albany every day before 8:05AM. There is a free 500 parking space lot beside the Albany station @ 525 East St. Rensselaer, NY.
The fare on these trains is about $41 if you buy your ticket in advance. Call Julie at 1 800 USA RAIL if you want to know more.
