We have two reservations in San Francisco for 5 nights beginning 4/19. One at the Marriott Marquis with a very good nightly rate. The other is Parc 55 on Club Level.
We're a family of three- parents and a 17 year old son. We're visiting our oldest son who lives @ Mint Plaza. Shopping is not important but a safe area with dining options are. I've looked into last minute changes to something all together different but would like to be close to a Bart station. We will not have a car and plan to use public transportation.
Sorry if this is an over discussed topic or too mundane but I really need help deciding which reservation to cancel. Or maybe some new last minute idea.

They're both fine, they're both near BART, they're both in a safe area and they're both near your older son. Just don't venture west of Taylor Street/6th Street (unless you have a specific destination in mind, like the Orpheum Theater or the Warfield) and you'll be fine.
As your son lives in Mint Plaza he can tell you all about the area around Parc 55-he lives two blocks from it.
Thanks sf7307. I've gone back and forth between the two but have read a few more negatives about the Parc 55 location as far as vagrants and being near a sketchy area. But I think I've almost read too much at this point. My husband thinks Parc 55 is best since breakfast will be included and seems a little closer to the Bart.
SAB our son is very neutral to his environment. He has lived in San Francisco since August but cannot comment on which hotel or area is best. He really doesn't have a clue. His job is all he thinks about right now. He lived in the Tenderloin area until recently.
The two hotels are approximately equidistant from BART.
If your son lived in the Tenderloin he must be neutral to his environment and he may not have noticed that the Mint Plaza is not exactly a dream location.
Toots, did you stay at Parc 55? What did you think?
