Palm Springs - La Quinta, Rancho Las Palmas or Miramonte???
Hi everyone. A friend and I are planning a girl's getaway weekend in Palm Springs.
We're debating between Rancho Las Palmas, La Quinta or Miramonte resorts.
The main goal of the weekend is relaxation, not partying. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

La Quinta-one of the prettiest resorts I've seen - very upscale in appearance. Can speak to the rooms; have eaten at the Mexican restaurant (Adobe?) which I'd say is just okay. The location is off the beaten path.
Miramonte-VERY nice. Went to "The Well" Spa in March - also VERY nice. Can't speak to rooms or food. Good location, although right on Hwy 111 in Indian Wells.
Rancho Las Palmas - don't know except another centrally located place in Palm Desert.

Been to all three and just stayed in September at Rancho Las Palmas..
But I am a huge fan of La Quinta..
so refined elegance..the rooms could use some updating but overall its a beautiful property..
Miramonte Resort is lovely and newer out of the 3..
RLP was bought out by KSL Resorts which owns La Costa & Hotel Del..they are in the midst of major remodel..see if they are done and if your room is a newly remodeled one..they have trophy properties..

My friend and I were able to get Rancho las Palmas at about $50 less a night than the other two, so we decided to stay there.
Thanks for all the advice.
And as it's been years since i've been to Palm Springs, any tips on things to do, places to go or restaurants to eat at would be great!
Thanks again.

RLP is across the street from the River shopping center which has an array of chain restaurants such as Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs and the Yardhouse (better). I have heard that Piero's Aqua Pazza is pretty good (in the same center)
In Palm Desert, visit El Paseo for galleries and boutiques. At the center which has Saks (the Gardens), Pacifica in the Desert (upstairs) has a nice ambience and focusses on vodka and seafood. Tommy Bahamas I think is overpriced but has a nice patio. There is also Sullivans which is a steak chain and it often has live music. There are also a number of smaller restaurants along El Paseo and nearby. Be sure to stop into the gallery at Augusta (at Portola and El Paseo) to look at some amazing jewelry and art. There's also a nice but pricy restaurant next to the gallery.

Check out the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert for various events www.mccallumtheater.com. The Palm Springs Follies is really a hoot www.palmspringsfollies.com. Also, on weekends the Street Fair in Palm Desert. It's kind of hokey, but I always walk away with something. There is also a steet fair every Thursday evening in Palm Springs; it's great for people watching. Randy's on Hwy. 111 in Palm Desert for breakfast - good food and Randy is fun. If you feel like taking a fun drive into the mountains - there is the Sugarloaf Cafe on Hwy 74 (toward San Diego)-maybe 30 minutes-also fun for breakfast or lunch. Lastly, the Living Desert is enjoyable (if it's not too hot outside).

Just a warning about the restaurants at the La Quinta Resort: they are all pretty much average, overpriced hotel food. The grounds are nice (I was just there for a stay) but I'm not sure it's really a destination if you aren't a hotel guest.
Since you asked about the tram restaurant, another alternative in Palm Springs for nice food and mountain views is Spencer's:

I stayed at the Miramonte for a week in January. Grounds were pretty, food was excellent, spa services were wonderful. I picked fruit off the trees... not sure if I was supposed to... but it was so good.
The resort is small with parking very close to the rooms. I think some rooms are nicer than others, so really ask about your room if you decide to stay. My room was fine, but my coworker got a nicer room for the same price.
Her patio faced an interior garden area which was also better than mine which faced an outer border of the property.

We stayed at RLP in January. It was very nice and the proximity to the above-mentioned mall/restaurants was wonderful. I spent one entire, restful day out by the pool. Aaah, bliss. Request (strongly request) a room by the pool...otherwise you might be walking quite a distance back and forth.
Had a disappointing experience with the spa, however. Hopefully it was an isolated case, though, since a friend had a very relaxing massage and a positive experience.
