Palm Desert California recommendations for dining

Greetings!

My 17 year old daughter is leaving for 7.5 months to Australia and we have planned a special weekend away at the Palm Desert Marriott (villas) We live in Southern California and have spent plenty of weeks at the Palm Desert Villas over the years - but it has been at least 5-6 years since I have been out to Palm Desert.

We plan on going to the spa on two of the days and enjoying a treatment, exercise class as well as the pool they have there. Looking for dining recommendations specifically and maybe some shopping - we might go to the outlets on the way out (or way home)...

Staying under 100.00 total for the meals - so around 50.00 per person plus tip is the top I would want to spend. I'm not too big of a drinker - so that should not eat up too much of the budget. We are in the villas so will eat breakfast in.

Thanks in advance!

We stayed kiddy-corner from your location @ Desert Falls Co Club condos in May '13 for Mrs Kal's B'day trip to PD.

Had good meals at Cork Tree and later it's the next door neighbor, Bella Vita. Loved listening to Mrs Kal speaking Italiano with the owner.

up the road by the Cal St San Bern campus was a nice pizza joint, Pizzeria Villagio. Paisano wings were a good appie.

All 3 places pretty casual, good service and great food. Loved the patio at Cork Tree. Had the misters going and you're in the shade.

Our first night we ended up in the lobby of the JW Marriott and had their sushi and a glass of wine for me - it was very good and a festive environment.

tonight I think we are going to one of your recommendation Kal

Tommy Bahamas Cafe is good for a casual meal. It's a fun ambiance there with an outdoor patio and misters.

Well, we ended up at Mortons and over budget...We both wanted a good steak...
I don't know if four years spent in North Dallas made Palm Desert appear so much prettier but everything seems lovely? We had a great day at the spa and enjoyed our dinner. Great mother/daughter weekend!

People who haven't been to Palm Desert in a while barely recognize it when they return today. It's even more true in Palm Springs. It's really become a year-round, world-class destination.

My daughter got sick.. so we ended up staying in on our last day/night Fun was still had by all. I did take out from Wok City and it was some of the worst food I have had in a LONG time. Don't recommend it...

But fun was had by all - now onto getting her ready to leave for Australia next Sunday - yikes!
